All attacks automatically disappear upon entering town.
TPPK is no longer viable in any form, except I heard possibly the Druid's fissure can do it but that has not yet been confirmed.
Hardcore players can now enjoy public games. We still must worry about hot TPs, and normal PK attempts, but the worst form of PKing has finally been removed.
Anyways, I'll be in Op XBananax enjoying some hardcore mode D2 like the good ol' days. Take it easy everyone and whoever is still playing this game thanks for sticking around haha.
Krz|||Not to say that I am any less optimistic about it, and thanks, but I think that this is by now commonly known, 2 month old news :P. I haven't seen it in action or had any reliable source confirm it but allegedly Druids fissure can still tppk so don't stand your lvl10char next to a lvl90 druid (yes, fissure is apparently almost that weak if you're properly leveled and geared).
In more interesting news, again unconfirmed by anything reliable, I've seen a thread today (screenshot, actually) of a druid killing someone in the Throne room via the use of some hacks. The screen shot suggested that hostility was declared right in the throne room without needing to first go to town. It could be just an attempt at a rumor or a photoshopped picture but you may still want to bear this in mind and play a bit more cautiously.|||I've taken to just throwing my old CRT monitors at people that bother me.
Thanks, Blizzard, for removing my outlet for destructivitiness.
Love,
Imin Prisonnow
P.S. We still get to deal with botters and crackers. Yay.|||Well I have had one attempt on me in a normal game in the throne room - basically I think it was a necro or soso - I experienced a lag spike of 2-3secs and then I saw a tp open half my health gone and some PK clan spam on the screen - obviously some sort of hack.
It was very weak as attempts go - then again my pally was twinked out.
Yesterday I heard some chat in gauss I think that tppk is back running in some form or another - did not get any details - might be the above method.|||iirc most of the more sophisticated tppk scripts involved desynching traffisc bewtween the target and the server, which was why simply adding timers etc was no solution to tppking.
I imagine with a little more work added to such scripts they can be extended to desynching a target, going to town, hostiling, returning to the area of grief and kill the target. Or at least making the server think all this happened while the alleged target simply plays on.
Tbh the patch did not make me feel like trying my luck in pub games yet.|||I'm playing HC pubs now, even Hell baalruns and so far so good. Lots of games available, and worst thing I saw were dirty TPs several times (but then don't be the first into TP and it's ok). Thanks for the tips guys, I'll be cautious for new hacks.
But one thing I saw was really stupid. Yesterday I was in pub Hell CS-run game. I went there to ask them for WP, got it and started doing some other stuff on my own since they were ok with that. Then a person called EuroPK entered the game but did not join the party. I suspected right away that he'll be trying to legitly PK them, but they did nothing even after he hostiled them. 10 seconds later 3 or 4 of them are dead. But even after that one was still in CS (definitely not trying to kill the PKer since he was low lvl leecher). I dunno what does it take for those players to understand where's the danger in HC...|||It's been so pointless to legitimately PK the latest patches due to all the hackers, I'm betting there's some players that never have seen a legitimate PK char. Underestimating lower lvl character happened in ye olde days

All attacks automatically disappear upon entering town.
I really don't think this means all pubs will be safe for ever and ever. Someone already said it, and i'm 90% sure that in a previous patch they put a security so you couldnt hostile immediatly once you entre town, and still we saw tppk coming back. TPPK wasn't just a macro which gave very fast orders to the computer.|||Quote:

The timer they put in makes it that you can't enter TPs or WPs for 10 seconds after you hostile, and was not a TPPK counter measure. It's one of the reasons normal PKing isn't used much at all anymore (together with the huge ammount of griefers/TPPK users). Which in turn left people off guard, as you can see in the story above. Basically, Blizzard nerfed legit PKing without touching hackers a few patches ago...
There has been one attempt to fix tppk, but it didn't involve timers:
- hydras, GA, and some other skills used for tppk disappear while going to town (TPPKers started using other skills since, so no fix)|||Quote:

Now all skills except druid fissure disappear... I'm not sure if you were talking in past tense or you're just out of date ~.~
