As I hadn�t played for a year or more, I went with a relatively safe build, a lightning/fire blast trapper, to give my reflexes some time to adapt. Skills are 20 lightning sentry /death sentry/fire blast, 8 fade/shadow master, 3 mind blast, rest in charged bolt sentry. Items are spirit sword/shield, guardian angel, rockstopper, blood fists, a nice 2trap/str/life amulet, random rares/magics filling in with resists/life/FRW, etc. She�s got good resists in hell, 65/50/85/40, decent life at around 1250 and a healthy 60% block to go with the damage reduction. Merc�s relatively weak, wielding a partizan insight to go with his rockstopper and magic high defense armour, and he seems to survive more often than not. She�s strong enough to sloooooowly do baal and can play in most areas, though a high lightning count will slow her down a bit.
My playstyle with her is relatively straightforward � run around spamming mind blast everywhere (I had forgotten how incredibly overpowered the skill is!), throw the shadow master into the fray, lay down some lightning sentry, throw in some more mind blast if necessary and sweep up with death sentry. Lightning immunes get blasted more aggressively, making sure I have a decent amount of converts, giving me time to focus the fire blast on the rest, then death sentry. Alternatively, I try to keep the lightning immunes simply stunned until the body count is high enough for corpse explosion to do its thing.
The character is very fun to play and it�s a change being able to play everywhere � I�ve been playing underpowered characters for years now and I�d almost forgotten you can even do that. I don�t think my life bulb has ever gone bellow 50%, so I have no near death stories to share � hoping not to jinx it here as she goes on mf duty (with ghetto mf gear � 4topaz armour, etc). She�s wearing all of her notable finds, along with a bunch of mid-level (below lem) runes � both nm and hell forges were lums. Acts 1 and 5 is where she spends most of her time these days and where she enjoys it most (same for most of my characters I guess).
Moving on to the new patch � well I like it! It�s such a pleasure not having to check whether each boss is fire enchanted and not having to revive or go without your merc whenever you�re playing in an OK area. I can�t say that PKers have ever been a problem for me personally, but the effect is seems to have had on the general community (i.e. a lot more players) is definitely noticeable.
My only qualm is whether this has all opened hardcore to some to the issues that makes softcore such a wonderful! place � i.e. umm, slightly inconsiderate and less than altruistic behaviour. Perhaps this isn�t representative give the small sample I�ve had, but I�ve definitely noticed some of that in the last week. So my concern is if this will change the hardcore community. In any case, a small qualm (especially given that there�s always the forum channels for us). Your thoughts?

Well, some have said that TPPK was used for weeding out the clueless (not MY words though
). While TPPK sounds more like mowing to me, they have some sort of a point. TPPK is gone, and now everyone is returning to pubby HC. While I'm not begging for TPPK back, I agree that some form of weeding is necessary. I'm hoping to see some (normal) PKs stepping up for the job 
, but at the moment we're still in a transition period. I'm saving up gear to do my share in europe HC. Still looking for + 3 dragon talon + 3 claw block 2-soceted -30 wsm claws, got most of my other gear allready.
