I've been butting my heads at diablo II lately so I thought I would ask for some recommendations.
I've never reached patriarch.
and it bothers me a little, so I thought I would try to kill two birds with one stone and go for my guardian.
The problem is, aside from fischymancers and the occasional blizz sorc, I have trouble getting characters out of Normal mode , let alone defeating hell mode. (in hell mode, I end up dying a bit before 80) arround act 2.
So I need suggestions for builds that will get me my Guardianship. I have a fair ammount of experiance with Fishymancer and a little with blizz sorcs. Everything else I try to play dies on me.
Am i just doomed to never knowing the greatness of Guardianship or what?
and also, I tend to play untwinked (im sure i could have begged a rush by now, im not interested in rushes) but i do play on the ladder if that makes a difference.
I look forward to your suggestions!|||Don't be too hard on yourself. Diablo II is a pretty tough game with untwinked characters.
Character builds that deviate from the strongest set of builds in the game are going to even harder to beat the game with.
And playing untwinked and hardcore on the ladder never helps the odds. Having a character that depends on you to react in an environment filled with latency issues has always been the Yellow Brick Road to the Deeds screen.|||Considering that the latest achievement (from what I heard) is a group of folks reaching the end of hell and then beating tristram ubers completely without any gear, I'd say that pretty much any build can get to the end of hell as long as you're careful and know how to best act in what circumstances. I typically play sorcs for the most part and so far in my experience, any sorc build can get the job done even in subpar gear. Only thing you need is an insight on your merc :P.|||The current state of the game regressed to the point where people trade on a site thats a known hackers haven and have to have the best of the best and dont even play the game anymore. Botters destroyed the trading community so Blizzard took notice.
They took that into consideration in the latest patch I think and removed Iron maiden from the game for monsters in Chaos and the Wsk. This should make the game easier to beat untwinkled. Roon drops have increased 10 fold as well so the chances you can make some really nice Runewords are now not out of the question. They remove PKers from the game, at least so far in the early stages of this ladder...
It can be done getting to Guardian. I might be the only living person that still finds his own items, rarely trades, and does this all in solo games. I have 3 cd keys and 2 computers so I always have 3 in game. Its a bit slower for me, but the rewards are that much greater when I find a certain item that puts me over the top. Dont give up and keep trying it'll be worth it once ya make it..
|||HMMM, its good to know im not the only one slogging it out untwinked and unmuled. It kind of boggles the mind of me when some people rather nonchallently drop that they have 3 accounts worth of mules...I guess I will try the fishymancer again, I was getting good results last time (lvl 74 act 2 hell) before an untimely YOUR DEEDS ended me in the sewers under lut ghulain
that and being able to magic find on your own helps a great ammount.
Im still open to other suggestions, but thanks for the encouragement!|||Personally, I don't see a problem with muling items that YOU find. If you want to play untwinked then good for you. If you want to play in specific gear you stored away (possibly needed for a specific build) then good for you as well. Nothing wrong with either. If you're so anti-muling and anti-trading then what's the point of 99.9% of the items you char will find over its life - none of them will be of any relevance to your char.
Having three mule accounts of duped high runes is a completely other story but I don't think this is what we were talking about here.|||Well it takes all kinds, I never took to muling, its just the way i am. As for what are all these items good for, last time i checked they were all pixels, they are all pretty useless. That said , I felt a certain sense of accomplishment the first time I found a tal rasha's peice or war travellers. I'm not against trade just dont have many oppurtunities for it.
Either way, I have settled on a bonermancers, and am currently sweeping my way threw normal mode.

Drop me a line if you want some info on Bonemancers man, I love them and love to walk them through the game although I DO twink, (i'm heavy on LL twinking especially; full Angelic + Hsarus + Bloodfist + Bone Helm with 2 x Standard Sapphire on early Bonemancer ftw!) as the Bonemancer build is quite gear-dependant imho although an armour and helm stuffed with pSapphires (assuming you cube up stuff as well?) and a White wand should keep you on course!|||another idea would be to use fire trapper till nm, and then get her into lighting tree for nm onwards.
|||Summoners will 100% work if you are prepared to reroll any map to get the most optimal monster spawns. The rest is entirely up to your motoring skills
