Starting HC Question

Hello All,

Long time SC player, coming back to the game for the 4th time or so. I really want to give HC a whirl. My favorite characters are Zeal/Fanatacism Pally, Vengeance/Conviction Pally, Meteorb Sorc, Blizzard Sorc, and Skellimancer. I'm leaning toward a Zeal/Fanaticism build for my 1st HC character. The on thing that scares the snot out of me is normal Duriel. I noticed the HC guide doesn't have any pointers on how to handle him, but my last SC untwinked character got their but kicked by Duriel. Any advise on Duriel or anything else HC is appreciated.|||My first tip would be to wait until after the 28th.

My second tip would be to go after him in a party as your pally will most likely struggle until he gets fanta and a decent weapon.|||Well maybe ill use the 2 weeks before the ladder reset to get a feel for HC. That way i'll now my way around a bit more before the ladder rest.

I just get nervous about teaming up with people i don't know for HC. It would suck to get PK'd.|||Quote:

There is not that much pking going on right at the reset most people are just trying to level ... and if you are on ehcl join the op xbananax channel as it has a group of players from here mainly that know and help each other my account name is MastersX... other realms have other channel groups you can join also...i have odd hours of play because i work at night but will help others when i can... also in the next couple of weeks people will try to assemble teams of players that will make toons that will complement each other skill wise so they can kill and level faster ...good luck and welcome to HC|||My paladin is now 21 and in Act 2. I'm going for a Zealot/Fanatacism build, but I put 1 pt in Holy Fire and Holy Frost to help with leveling. I'm playing untwinked and i'm pretty excited because I should be able to make a Holy Thunder in a War Scepter as soon as I get to Act 3. I think Holy Thunder should be enough to get me through all of normal mode, if I make it that far

My other question is until I get Fanaticism am I better off making Strength Runeword for CB, and using Smite/Holy Frost on act bosses? Or just use Zeal and my Holy Frost?

Thanks|||If you have surplus Amn's then the CB against bosses rapidly applied by Zeal will crush bosses indeed! Maybe a BA merc to make sure you hit them, or go Defiance merc with the one-point Smite to kill bosses, whatever's comfy |||So far i'm having the most fun with D2 that i've had in years. And i'm definitely glad i'm working out some of the untwinked HC issues before the reset. Currently my Zealot is level 30 in act 5 normal.

1. If I go zealot/fanatacism after the reset i'm going holy freeze until I can get an act 2 holy freeze merc. Then respec fanatacism after I get the holy freeze merc.

2. Playing untwinked HC is a lot of fun. It really makes you pay attention to cube recipes and early rune words. I will play untwinked through NM, and I will probably twink in hell difficulty.

3. I learned you cannot get more then 3 sockets in normal. Limits some rune words a bit.

I definitely look forward to playing HC untwinked after the reset. Maybe its the newness of it, since I have to have patience and put more time and care into the character. I don't want anything bad to happen.

Thanks for the input guys.|||What realm do you play on liquid? I'm just poking around threads trying to find buddies for after the reset. I'm on US East, account Grimm357. Wouldn't mind starting the new HC ladder season with you if you want a partner :]

Leaning torwards a Trapsin for my 2nd hardcore char, but that might not compliment your Zealer, so i'm open to suggestions :] Lmk! |||My only tip is: don't ever hesitate to use juvs. I bet you that everyone in this forum has lost a character because they didn't want to waste a full juv =]
