New to HC and loving it :D

[:1]Hi guys, I've been snooping around these forums for a while, and this is my first post in here.

I recently started playing HC, and I must say, it sure is exciting it reminds me of the days where I had time to play EVE Online.

Problem is, I just wasted my lvl 20 sorc on duriel. It's not like I don't care, I'm just not mad about it, because I got one helluva kick out of fighting him.

But one question remains. I can't recall ever to have a character fight duriel (without help that is) without dying at least a few time.

My character is untwinked, and I'm at a loss what to do.

How the heck do you defeat duriel WITHOUT dying? I read somewhere that most HC players feared duriel, now I understand why.

Can it really be, that I have to grind my way to lvl 25 in order to kill him?|||EZ Mode Duriel for the new Sorceress:

Fill your inventory with life+mana potions.

Learn the key shortcut to make your mercenary drink health potions.

Before facing Duriel, feed 3-5 thawing potions to the merc and about the same for yourself. You shouldn't get hit that much, so just 1 or 2 is plenty, if you're low on gold(This would be a mistake, you should always pick up gold and sell almost everything you come across).

You should also have a Tome of Town Portal filled with 5-10 scrolls and a dedicated hotkey so you can get to it fast.

Defience mercenary!

Once you've got all of that set, jump down into Duriels lair and get ready for battle!

Let him walk up to your mercenary first, then you're going to want to keep your mercenary and yourself healed and casting Static Field when you're not dying.

If things get too bad, use a TP scroll and revive the mercenary and buy a few more thawing potions.

SF takes most things down to 1/4 pretty fast. So, after that's lost effectiveness, go to work with your most powerful spell.

Items that make this easier, on an untwinked budget:

1. "Stealth" - I'm pretty sure you can build two of these before Duriel these days.

2. the highest defense armor you find, keep it. Combined with a Defiance mercenary, he'll be slightly more of a tank than the Stealth guy is, and a few extra seconds can change the fight to being much more relaxed.

3. Razortine: Slows Target is awesome. I often find Razortines like they're going out of style, maybe you'll get lucky.|||Thanks for the help

btw: If i find a 6 socket armor, can I then put stealth in it thrice?|||Never mind, found out myself My Druid is lvl 19 now btw, so I guess I'll try the strat against duriel with him in a lvl or two.

Cross your fingers for me |||lol, just died! Rest in peace Baldren! Wasn't duriel though, hit a cold enchanted bug. My merc killed it and it sploded in my face |||Ok, my new barb WASTED duriel. Only took one full rej potion during the fight, and that was it. He could hardly hit me, i had almost 1200 defense lol|||Yeah max block is pretty easy to get also, with bone shield of deflecting for protection|||I'm only buying dex for max block. Can i get a shield with the "of deflection" suffix with two sockets? I want the +50 all res runeword in one |||Cant make rws in magic items.. though if you can afford the rw(sanctuary i think`?) then you could just get a stormshield..|||didn't know you couldnt make rw's in magic items. thanks for the heads up. BTW, what the heck am I supposed to do with diablo? That laser breath is gonna kill me for sure. I thought about saving charms with lightning res, but the other part is physical damage, and thus very hard to do anything about for me.

The EZ mode duriel guide was good. Anyone got any good tips?
